As a rule, we don't do parties with other children outside our family until our kids reach the age of 5. It's some line we drew in the sand. Our neighbors in C'ville counted as family, so they always came. We began with pre-gifts, thinks around the house that Inwe and Larien wrapped for Finwe. Very nice. Dinner followed with cake, homemade, so don't laugh.
"Mommy, are you going to put fire on my cake?" is what Finwe asked as soon as we put the candles on the banana cake with a type of meringue icing. "I want fire on my cake."
Here is the fire on his cake. Three candles. Three puffs of air.
Finwe enjoyed the icing more than the cake, but that's to be expected. I put him in a button down shirt. He exclaimed at the end of the evening that he didn't like the button type of shirt. Noted, my dear three year old who has fabulous table manners during our family style dinners. Really. You have to visit to hear him and watch him dish out his own meals. I'm so proud, people. So proud.
We opened presents. The kids played as a group as I mucked out the kitchen from making dinner and cake. I have more photos, but I'll load them tomorrow. I need some Sarabeth time. I've not gotten much Sarabeth time.
