Once upon a time, three children described themselves as shy. At gatherings, they hid behind their parents' legs. Only when in the company of those they knew well, would the three children converse with ease. They were happy with the shyness. All felt it suited them.
The parents of the three children forced them to move to a new city. Bienvenue en Louisiane! Much larger than their prior home, the children stared in wonder at the streetcars, tall buildings, and the muddy river. Gone was the large yard of fruit trees, ponds, and a swingset. Their new yard had enough room for playing, but the street was too busy for riding bikes.
Yet, the children discovered something new. Neighbors walked past their house. The three children decided to talk to the neighbors. Emboldened by these encounters, the children began talking to anyone traveling the street. During an amazing time called Carnival, they allowed people other than their parents to help them beg for items from floats.
Now, the three children speak to anyone when given the opportunity. They easily beg for trinkets from floats. The shy children emerged from their shells.
Laissez les bon temps roulez!
