Last Minute Decision

From 5/26/06 at my mother's house.

We've left the Big Easy for the slower life here with my mother for a few days. The children expressed delight at getting to see Mom Mom and have behaved wonderfully. In fact, Finwe would have been delighted to say goodbye to me. He's that excited to have Mom Mom. She makes him happy, and vice versa.

All day Mom has talked to Finwe about sleeping in the big bed with her. We felt assured that, come bedtime, he'd slumber next to Mom Mom. We didn't take his thoughts into account.

As Inwe skipped up the stairs to bed, we heard Finwe's voice, "I want to go, too." Shortly afterwards, Inwe informed us that "Finwe's going to sleep with me, but he'll be in the big bed. I'm going to sleep in the little bed."

I didn't believe it, but there he lay, covers pulled to his chest, blankets nestled beside him. I sang. I kissed. I bid goodnight. He slept, is still sleeping by himself in the big bed.

Mom Mom must settle for the White Dragon, who will enjoy the extra space. The poodle, I suspect, won't be quite as thrilled.

Are you sure you didn't need to see Mom Mom because of your little emotional breakdown?

:)

Oh. And was he ever really that little (young)? That picture is so cute but not at all the boy that I know!

Oh, the last minute decision was Finwe's to sleep in the big bed by himself. The trip to my mother's had been planned since I learned that the school gives the entire week off after Mardi Gras, which I think was around Christmas time.

Yeah, he was that young once. It is odd to see him at seven/eight months. As if he couldn't have been that size.
