20 Months

Today, Finwe is 20 months of age. In four months he will be two years of age. Two. Hmm. Hard to wrap my mind around that one, because to me he is still a baby. This one, this boy, is holding on to his babyhood longer than my girls. Much of that is due to his limited, but developing, language.

Although Larien still screeched at this age, she was also running after White Dragon berating her for stealing the coffee. Inwe. Ah, Inwe. She was reciting Peterson's Guide to East Coast Birds and the Preamble to The Constitution. In these terms, Finwe is still very much a baby. Don't be too alarmed. He says chocolate very well, never misses a plane, helicopter, truck, or train. He insists that you know that he knows what he saw.

I am no longer Mommy to him. I am MOM! It is said in just that way, loudly, with an exclamation point. Many times it is said repeatedly in that fashion. An example would be a recent trip to the school.

"MOM! MOM! MOM! MOM!"

"Yes, Finwe?"

"Truck."

"I saw it. I saw the truck."

"MOM! MOM! MOM! MOM!"

"Yes, Finwe?"

"Biiiig truck."

"That's right. It was a big truck."

Repeat that for the seven miles we drive to the school for each truck we see or each plane. Hold him back if he sees a TRACTOR! That means seven MOM!s.

He is such a wonderful, baby boy. And kudos to Ursa for letting them sit on her!
