As soon as my children can stand, I change their wet diapers while they are standing. It's just easier for me that way. Many parents think I am odd that I don't insist that my children lay quietly while I change the diaper. Let's just say that the stand up diaper change fits my personality.
When Finwe had a soaking wet diaper a few evenings ago, I stopped him while he was on his way to the sunroom to get a dry one on him. The pants were lowered, the old diaper was removed, and Whisk!Whisk! the dry one was strapped into place. Once I hoisted his pants on his hips, he was on his journey to terrorize his sisters with a soft Dora bat. I estimate the changing time was between 10-30 seconds. Honest.
Five minutes later he returned to the kitchen, eyebrows knitted with concern.
"Is something wrong, Finwe?"
He nodded his head in short, staccato movements. At the same time he pointed to his pants. At his crotch I saw a large patch of darkened fabric with a trail leading down to the cuff.
"Did you diaper fall off you?"
Another head nod, this time with widened eyes.
"Well, come here so I can get you out of those pants."
He obediently walked to me. I removed his pants completely. As I leaned to inspect the diaper I realized what had happened.
His peni$ was hanging out the left leg of the diaper. That is so not a problem with stand up diaper changes on girls.
