On the couch

This evening, Finwe asked to go upstairs to drink his before bed milk (no longer from a bottle). I settled in on my bed and got him changed into his pajamas and blanket sleeper. He finished his bottle of milk and (boo yah!) reached for the small stack of board books next to the bed. I read the three books to him. I was delighted when he pointed to the books to have them read again.

After I had read "Bedtime First Words" for the third time, he gave me a kiss, which is a sign that he is ready to go to sleep. I walked down the hall to his bedroom. With a grunt and a point, he indicated that he wanted to give Inwe a kiss. He thought she was in her room as the light was on, but she was still downstairs with Phill and Larien finishing a new My Little Pony movie.

I took him downstairs so he could give everyone good night kisses. I shouldn't have done that. He saw the movie and wanted to stay. I didn't want to stay. I was going to finish putting away laundry as he went sleep in his room, but, well, parenthood teaches you that what you want isn't what always happens. There is an illusion of control, but when it comes to wailing at bedtime, the kid has quite a bit of leverage.

I left him downstairs.

All I am telling you now is second hand knowledge. It's from Phill, which means that it is incomplete and definitely missing very cute details, but it is all we have.

Finwe let Phill hold him on the couch. Finwe decided that he couldn't see the movie properly with Phill holding him. After some fidgeting, Finwe wedged himself into the left corner of the couch. As he watched the movie his head bobbed, much like yours used to do in that 8am chemistry, algebra, or philosophy class in college. By the time the credits had rolled onto the screen he was asleep.
I told you his cheeks were really red.

Does he have two blankets now?

He has adopted another blanket. Mom's friend sent the blue one shortly after he was born. It's always been around, but lately he has to have both for nighttime sleeping.

I'd say that the blue one is his favorite, but he likes chewing on the green one.

Oh, well, it is good to have options.

No no the green one is jealous! It wants to be the favorite! It doesn't like the blue one. Bad bad blue one.
