Tomorrow we travel to see my mother in Florida for a week. Inwe instantly understood and began talking about her suitcase that she got last year.
"Can I pack my own suitcase?" she asked enthusiastically.
"Of course. You've done well in the past. So, okay."
Larien then asked, "Can I pack my suitcase?" Her eyebrows were raised in anticipation of a favorable answer. Inwe dashed them.
"You don't have a suitcase."
Larien's voice was plaintive, "I don't?"
I gave her that Oh, sweetie, it'll be okay look as I added, "You've always shared with Finwe or Mommy or Daddy." The look on her face stopped me. "I suppose it's time to get you your own suitcase."
Larien clapped her hands in delight, "Let's go shopping today!" Apparently Larien didn't care that there was a downpour outside or that the wind made umbrellas ineffective.
We did go shopping. We came home with a color-your-own suitcase. Larien started immediately and asked for Inwe's help when Inwe arrived home from school.
Larien wanted me to put her name on the suitcase. I found one of the spots that says "I am ________". I neatly filled in the blank. Later, Larien asked me to write on another "I am _________" spot. What did she ask me to write?
See for yourself.
