First Day of School: Drop-off

The morning routine was easy. I even had time to cook pancakes and bacon. That made Inwe and Larien very happy. I was also pleased that they ate so well. It makes leaving them at school easier for me. We got out of the house on time and got to school at a good time.

Inwe's classroom is on the entry-level floor. We went to her class first. I showed her where her cubby was, and she put her lunch box on the hook above it. She went into the class easily, but there were only two other children in the room with the teacher. One girl she met briefly this summer, but her other two girl friends weren't there. The teacher and I got the two girls together. I got my hug and kiss and left. So far so good.

Larien watched all this with what can only be described as impatience. She wanted to get to her class. "Inwe's not in my class, Mommy. I have my own." This was repeated many times on the drive to school. Larien's class in on the ground floor. However, she is in Morning Movers because her preschool doesn't begin until 9am. Inwe's kindergarten begins at 8:30am. Larien and I walked down the long hallway to the huge arena attached to the school. It's two or three basketball courts. That was where the three year olds were congregating for Morning Movers.

Larien leaned against me for a bit. The head of the school approached her with a ball. When asked if she wanted to play with the others, Larien made an enthusiastic yes and began to run off. I barely had time to get a kiss. She's going to be just fine.

I pick them up at 12:30pm. Then it is off to gymnastics at 1:15pm.

Glad this went easy. I just hope My Little Captain will be okay - he doesn't know life without his sisters!

I'm glad your morning went smoothly. Does Larien go to school five days a week?

Larien only goes three days a week-M/W/F.

Tomorrow will be interesting.

So now I want to know how it all went. What happened when they came home? Did they do ok this morning?
