Gymnastics is a hit. Larien loves it and does her best at everything. 100% effort from that girl. I'm having a great time with her even with Finwe strapped to my back limiting my movement. Today Larien walked on a balance beam on her tiptoes. The beam was over three feet from the ground. She did hold on to my hands, but still it was her idea to walk tiptoe on the beam. She had already done a forward walk, a side step walk, and a backwards walk. And, she even felt comfortable enough to jump off the beam onto a mat surrounded by a doughnut mat. (Picture a foot thick mat rolled into an "0". Larien jumped into the O.) Swinging from bars is one of her favorite things to do. She asked today to swing on the high bar. I let her. She needs a challenge most days.
Inwe is clearly thrilled with gymnastics. I don't get to watch much of what she does, but I get glimpses. I saw her doing flips over a low bar today. She also shows me the different types of jumps that she is learning. She can do straddle, pike, and tuck. Inwe demonstrates these at least once each day and is trying to teach Larien. Larien can't quite do them, but she does try.
I'm happy with the procedures at this gym. I like the competence of the teachers and the staff. I think I'll let the girls continue in the fall if they would like that.

As much as I loved dance, I think I would have loved to continue with this when I was a kid. We stopped going (I think) because it was to far from the house. It builds strength and grace while helping to reduce some of those fears which come from not being comfortable with movement. Dance is movement but not nearly the same thing. Do the girls watch "So You Think You Can Dance?"
OHH i lived gymnatics when i was younger and wish so very much that i could have continued with it.. I hope to get my girls involved with gymnastics or sports or dancing when there a bit older...
