Backwards is a Direction, Too

I like progress--forward progress.

Like Finwe going from the commando crawl to a real crawl to pulling up and wanting to stand all the time.

or

Like Inwe being wary of the water to being an underwater swimmer and attempting the breast stroke.

Like Larien who used to be perfectly potty trained to having numerous accidents daily. (Sadly, I know the incident that precipitated this, but I'm not going to elaborate here.)

Like Larien who was a super swimmer, almost overconfident in the water, to being afraid to go in the big pool without being tightly held.

I have to keep reminding myself that it is okay to go backwards.
