Group Swim Lessons

Larien and Inwe just completed their fourth and final class of 4:1 swim class. The other two children were Cirdan and Findarato, sons of TWA Pilot. I blogged about the first lesson just last week.

The progress that each child made was really evident. The instructor was patient and a good communicator with all the children. At the end of the class, the instructor gave out certificates to each kid.

Inwe has all of the following checked:
  1. Fully submerge face
  2. Shallow water bobbing
  3. Front float (5 sec)
  4. Back float (5 sec)
  5. Flutter kick-streamline
  6. Flutter kick-back unsupported
  7. Combined stroke-front 5 yds.
  8. Jump in shallow water unassisted
  9. Introduce Rhythmic breathing
The rest says: We encourage you to continue swimming by signing up for Level 3.
Comments:
Megan is a very good swimmer. Level 3 is a big step, but she is ready for it.

Larien has these checked:
  1. Fully submerge face
  2. Shallow water bobbing
  3. Front float (5 sec)
  4. Back float (5 sec)
  5. Jump in shallow water unassisted
The instructor noted that Larien could flutter kick-streamline with help and that she could almost do a combined stroke on her front for five yards. Of course I never told the instructor that she isn't three yet.

His final comments were:
Larien is very fun to work with. I encourage her to continue to try to swim without someone really holding her up. She should keep up with Level 2.
TWAPilot and I discussed further swimming lessons for the quad. Cirdan and Larien will do Level 2, and Inwe and Findarato will be together for Level 3. Now we just have to find a time that works for all of us.

It is wonderful that they are learning so young and having a good time doing it.
