The bedtime routine for Inwe and Larien last night was just a bit altered. Instead of me reading to Larien and Phill reading to Inwe in their separate rooms, Phill read to both girls in Larien's room while I completed the huge mess I had created in the kitchen.
After I had completed the shoveling of the kitchen, I joined the reading by laying along the bottom of the bed. Phill finished the story (The Princess and the Pea) and began to shoo Inwe to her bed. Our resident drama queen complained, "I'm too tired to walk."
"Okay," I quickly responded. "Sleep here. Crawl back up here."
Inwe studied my face to determine if I was honest in my suggestion. She then added a condition of her own. "If you sleep between us, I will."
"Okay."
Inwe and Larien got as close to me as possible, flipped and flopped for what seemed an eternity, and fell asleep. I left when I knew they were in deep sleep, which took about three minutes.
I checked on them later. Their heads were touching. Each of them had one leg sticking out from the covers. Their faces were obscured by hair.
What is really nice about the two of them sleeping in the same room is that they wake up happier and easier.
The only bad part is that White Dragon wouldn't sleep in Inwe's room without her there. Larien has run White Dragon out of her room so many times that the dog doesn't even try any longer. So, White Dragon slept in the sunroom. Maybe she was pouting.
