This morning I made the decision to stop stressing out over Finwe not nursing. So, he's done. He's weaned. It's true that most babies do not self wean until 18-24 months of age. However, I really feel that Finwe is done. I will continue to pump until he is a year if I can.
Why did I make this decision? The past few nights have be horrible, totally and completely horrible. I won't go into details. Phill ended up sleeping on the couch. Finwe ended up sleeping on the floor of the sunroom. I actually drove around for nearly an hour so he would sleep. That was at 1am. When he woke at 4am screaming for food, I gave him a bottle (as he wouldn't accept me). I was physically exhausted from carrying him. That's why I gave him to Phill after an hour.
Phill did this with Larien at this age as well. For whatever reason, the gentle "no-cry" method fails us at around 10 months.
So with the sleeping being such an issue, I will not cloud it with worrying about him nursing. I made it to seven months with Inwe, a full year with Larien, and ten months with Finwe. Not too bad.

Mmmmm.....so sorry SB...I know that you have EXCELLENT reasons and most sane humans would have done the same exact thing. I felt so sad when first R was done, he stopped right around this same age, it still gives me a little twinge and then I thought w/little R, it would all be different and it would be wonderful...blah, blah, blah, of course, she latched on immediately after birth and then went on her own nursing strike at about 3 days of age, so the pumping begins, I only lasted 6 months, it is a pain! At around 6 months, I was only making about 6 oz a day and it just wasn't worth my effort at that point. My sisters both had an extremely easy time of it and had extreme trouble weaning theirs around 3yr old....every child is different as we know. Anyhow, hopefully the little tike will feel better soon...did you ever find out if he had HFM dz?
hey sorry it took so long to answer your question but you asked what was my site... on tales from the womb...
