When I had my first baby 4 1/2 years ago, my mother's generation said to me, "Oh, it's too bad babies aren't allowed to sleep on their tummies any more. They love it so much." While that might be true, I'll take the decreased risk of SIDS any day over a tummy sleep position.
As soon as Inwe could roll from her back to her front, she slept that way--on her belly. I remember worrying about it and wanting to roll her over onto her back. Phill wouldn't let me. "She's strong enough to roll back over if she needs to. It's okay." He is a pediatrician, so I did listen to him--worrying the entire time.
Larien was also quick to roll to sleep on her belly. I worried less about her for a couple of reasons: I was a mom for a second time and she also curled into a fetal position. I certainly didn't think it was comfortable, but she liked it.
Now, I have Finwe. He absolutely, positively will not sleep on his stomach. If he inadvertently rolls onto his stomach at night he instantly wakes up whining. When he fell out of the bed last night, I think that is why he started crying. He landed on his tummy. Otherwise, he may have just kept sleeping.
So, where is Finwe tonight? Still on the bed. We attempted the crib four times to no avail. Frantic, "oh my gawd you have abandoned me" crying was all we got even when we knew he was fast asleep before putting him in the crib. The dog beds are now on the floor next to the bed so that he has something with more cushion if he falls tonight.
Anyone want to come train Finwe that it is okay to sleep on his own? We have so messed up with this one.

Yeah and when they're done at your house training Finwe they can come to my house and work with Isabelle.
And then make a stop in Alabama to help out with Daisy. Who knows what happened with number four....John Henry still rocks her to sleep most nights.
Oh, and don't ask about Rosie, either.
As for the boys there is no problem getting to sleep. I can't remember the book I read before Lake was born (I have loaned it out) but it was adament about a schedule. My mother argued with me that you couldn't get a breastfed baby on a schedule. Both boys started sleeping 10 hours at night between 5 and 7 weeks. The girls sleep through the night but have a hard time getting to sleep.
Hey, turtle, no bragging about the boys!!!
You guys are SUCKERS! hahahahaha
(maniac laughter from someone who is NOT a mother)
hahahahaha
This too will pass.
