Inwe, age two months, in the family bassinet.Last week I managed to ship the family bassinet to Molly and good4water, who are expecting their first child. This bassinet is just a bit over 40 years old and has been the sleeping place for the following people: my cousin Big Chief and her daughter; my sister Maverick; my cousin good4water; me; and my three children.
Our dog, The Brute, used to sleep next to it when Inwe was in it. Larien spent the most time in the bassinet of my three children. It was a safe place to put her with Inwe being just 21 months of age when Larien was born. Finwe didn't use it that much, but he also doesn't use the crib.
I'm not one of those people who cherish things because they are old, but I do like the fact that all of us share this one piece of history.

I like that it has history as well. Consider this your one piece - I only have five pieces which qualify:
My Great Grandmother's bedroom set from when she married.
My Great Grandmother's side chair from her home.
My favorite side chair of my parents when I was growing up.
My Grandfather's living room side table.
A bookcase my mother made my granddad when she was in high school.
Eventually the bedroom set will go to Turtletoes for the eldest daughter in the next generation to use and cherish. What I have is enough..I gave quite a bit to my brother who has bookcases from our childhood bedrooms, a side table of our Grandfather's and a set of three small bookcases which belong to our Great Grandmother's family.
My sister had her shot at some history but passed.
My mother has a couple of small items and I am storing her childhood lamp here for our child.
I assume that my brother's first born will also get to use this lamp. It has a nightlight feature in the bottom and is a floor lamp. The top glass broke years ago and I am not thrilled with the replacement glass. Maybe some day I will seek out a better replacement.
It sounds like a lot of stuff but it really isn't...
